You should remember back towards the end of last year I decided to do an intensive course to become a fitness instructor and Level 3 personal trainer. Since then I haven’t been able to stop soaking up knowledge.

I did a lot of research to find the best company to help me learn more about Nutrition from home rather than taking weekend or evening classes.
I had a basic understanding of nutrition from generally reading around the vast topic and my Level 3 Personal Training qualification so I needed something more advanced. I also have a big interest in how nutrition can help you develop and progress with your sport or fitness goals.
I found the ‘Advanced Nutrition and Health’ course on Open Study College’s website with modules discussing topics such as; Supplementation, Cravings and Habits and Sports Nutrition.
Once I was enrolled, I received the best package of goodies to help me with my studies. All the sharpies a stationary-obsessed girl could ask for, highlighter, tea mug, sweat towel, pens and study tips.
My favourite bit (besides the sharpies!) was opening the Student Notebook as every page has great tips and pointers to help you get the most out of the course.
“Using tab sticky notes will allow you to find relevant information in your notebook quickly and easily.”
Finding the necessary facts for your assignments at the end of each unit will cut down the time it takes you to complete them.
“Write down in your calendar when you wish to complete your assignments.”
This course is done in your own time and is very individual to each who takes it. For me, setting dates to complete each part will motivate me to complete them and make sure I don’t slack off!
“You should try and summarise a page of text into 5 bullet points, in order for you to actually understand the information.”
This is something I always did, throughout my GCSE’s and A Levels, to make sure I fully understood what I had just read and didn’t skim over passages of text without soaking up what they really meant.
You are assigned a personal tutor for the duration of the course (my tutor is called Scott) and the support online is totally unlimited!
You send your assignments in via email to your tutor in a time frame that works for you. For me, it means I can work around my blogging schedule of writing and meetings and I can take whatever unit I am currently studying away travelling with me so I can be learning on a sun lounger or sat by the fire after a day of hiking in the Alps.
If you are interested in the course I am taking you can find it online here.
