Now personally, I am not a fan of coffee – in fact – I can’t stand the stuff!
My dad used to be completely addicted and is now 8 years “clean”, will no longer touch the stuff but my sister just tried to do a detox that required no caffeine and really struggled with withdrawal symptoms – her body clearly missing her morning fix!
This all sounds quite bad, but I recently found out that black coffee has quite a few health benefits, some might surprise you!
Coffee (without milk) can elevate energy levels and increase mental focus (anyone who has ever used it to pull an all-nighter already knew that!) but it can also help reduce depression and the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Think I’ll be sticky to my trusty alkaline hot lemon water to kick-start my morning though…
