Over on my Instagram account: @popcornandpyjamas, a lot of my DM’s at the beginning of this year were about Veganuary. For those that don’t know, Veganuary as a concept was started by Jane Land and her husband Matthew Glover in York 7 years ago. It involves eating Vegan for the 31 days of January. It was estimated that more than 1 million people stopped eating animal products as part of this year’s Veganuary. Personally I have never done the plant-based challenge but this year I am going to try a few new vegan recipes and try to incorporate those dishes into my weekly meal plans! I also like to find plant-based snacks that I don’t have to think too hard over or make myself. I can have a bar or a bite of something at my home office desk and know that I am filling myself up in the middle of the day with something delicious and a tasty few veggies in!
I recently discovered ZENB (pronounced Zen-B) and I had to tell you about the plant-based snack, their ingredient philosophy and what they feel their brand purpose is.
ZENB‘s name comes from the Japanese word Zenbu which is an expression that translates to mean ‘whole’. I think I take that to mean that they take the whole into account; the process of creating their products by using as much of the whole vegetable as possible as well as considering the impact that making their products has on the planet.
By ‘whole foods’ that ZENB use in their products – I mean as much of the whole vegetable as possible. They actually use the peel, seeds and stem. So amazed at a food brand that is so focused on helping to raise awareness around issues of food waste! It’s amazing to see.
ZENB has an incredible mix of products with unique and wonderful ingredient combinations. They have Veggie Sticks and Bites but I do think the Veggie Bites are my favourite (pictured above and below). Along with flavours like; Beetroot, Orange and Cacao Nibs, Sweet Potato, Mango and Cinnamon, Red Pepper, Tomato and Ancho Chilli, Carrot, Pineapple and Coriander, and Pumpkin, Apple and Cacao Nibs.
You weren’t expecting those combinations of flavours were you?
They do individual flavours in Sticks as well; Beetroot, Carrot, Red Pepper and Pumpkin.
We definitely aren’t in need of a grab-and-go snack right now because, let’s be honest, none of us have anywhere to go right now. BUT when we do, these are perfect to toss in your bag or slip a bar in your back jeans pocket and off you go…
For now I’m enjoying them on my daily walks that are keeping me sane in lockdown as well as stashing several in my desk drawers just in case!
I know you’ll ask so I’ll leave the links to everything you’ve seen in this post below:
I want to know which flavour you want to try first so leave me a comment or message me on Instagram @popcornandpyjamas and let’s have a chat!
Until next time,
